Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information ZIP Code Demographics collects when you visit this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: this is a read-only reference site with no accounts, no comments and no checkout. The only information you can actively give us is a message through the contact form, and the only routine collection is the standard analytics and ad-serving activity described below.
Information You Send Us
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you submit, and we use them only to read and reply to your message. We do not add form submissions to any mailing list, sell them, or share them with data brokers. Messages are retained in our editorial inbox for as long as needed to handle corrections and follow-ups, and you may ask us to delete a message you sent by writing to us through the same form.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages readers use, in aggregate: pages viewed, approximate geography at city level, device type and referral source. Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visits and sessions. We use this information to decide which ZIP profiles and guides to improve; we do not use it to identify individual readers, and we do not combine it with contact-form messages. You can block analytics cookies in your browser, or use Google's opt-out tools, without losing access to any content on this site.
Ads and Cookies
This site displays ads served by Google and its partners. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of ad cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized ads by visiting Google's Ads Settings page, and you can opt out of many other ad networks' cookies through the Network Advertising Initiative and Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser or use web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving on this site. Blocking cookies will not prevent ads from appearing, but they will be less personalized.
Links and Embedded Content
Our pages link to official sources, principally census.gov. We do not embed third-party social widgets. When you follow a link to another site, that site's privacy policy governs what it collects; we encourage you to read the policies of the Census Bureau and other official sources we cite.
Children, Security and Changes
This site is a general-audience reference publication and is not directed at children under 13; we do not knowingly collect information from children. We protect the contact-form pipeline with standard transport encryption and a spam filter, and no method of transmission is perfectly secure. If this policy changes — for example, if our analytics or ad arrangements change — the revised policy will be posted on this page with a new date, and continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact page.
